On Saturday, January 28, Trump issued three new Presidential Actions.
Executive Order: Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Appointees
Individuals appointed to an executive agency on or after January 20, 2017 are required to sign a contract that restricts activities during and after their service as a government appointee. These restricted activities include accepting gifts from lobbyists, engaging in lobbying activities, as well as engaging in activities on behalf of foreign governments.
This memo describes the reorganization of two national security councils. In contrast to the composition of previous councils, the memo indicates that Trump’s Chief Strategist will be invited to attend any meeting of the National Security Council, and a member of the influential Principals Committee.
Presidential Memorandum Plan to Defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria
This memo directs the Administration to develop a plan to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). A draft is ordered to be delivered to the President by the Secretary of Defense within 30 days.
