On Friday, January 27, Trump issued two new Presidential Actions.

Presidential Memorandum on Rebuilding the U.S. Armed Forces

To “rebuild the U.S. Armed Forces,” this memo directs the Secretary of Defense to conduct a review of military readiness, develop an amendment to the 2017 budget, develop a 2018 budget request, and create a plan to achieve military readiness by 2019. The memo also directs the Secretary to initiate reviews of U.S. nuclear deterrent and missile-defense capabilities.

Executive Order: Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States

This document suspends the ability of individuals from particular countries to enter the U.S. or attain visas. United States security officials will request additional information from these countries before making determinations on individuals’ visas, immigration benefits, or admissions into the U.S. These countries include Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
